Invitro Resistance to Baytril

R. Hopkins

Clearbrook Grain and Milling Co.

A survey of in vitro sensitivity to Baytril in poultry bacterial isolates from the Fraser Valley, BC was conducted. 65.2, 17.4 and 13 percent respectively of isolates of staphylococcus species, escherichia coli and streptococcus species had some in vitro resistance to Baytril. Baytril has been very efficacious when used against bacteria that were demonstrated to be sensitive when tested in the laboratory. It is recommended that sensitivity testing is needed.
